The Element of Surprise

Were you one of those kids who always went looking for your Christmas presents beforehand? I never was. What can I say, I was always the type of kid who wanted to be surprised, and I guess I still enjoy being surprised to this day.

I know a lot of people who looked for their Christmas and birthday presents, and I think it explains a lot about them. I like taking life as it comes, and not knowing what I'm going to get out of it. There are times where I curse the world and wish I had known this, that, or the next thing was coming, but overall, I handle it all well. I never really knew what I was getting for my birthday or Christmas, but I liked being surprised when I opened the presents. It gave me a reason to be excited!

I guess some things never change, right?

The Perfect Day

Many of us complain about how terrible our day was, or what went wrong, etc. Have you ever stopped to think about what would make your day perfect? I know most of us haven't, and what's even stranger is when it actually happens. I think yesterday was pretty darn close to the most perfect day I've had in a while, and I wish I could just relive it every day.

After sleeping in on Saturday morning, Smitty and I finally dragged ourselves out of bed to go to Home Depot and proceeded to invade the garden center. Now, I have just finished tilling the soil in my backyard so that I could start my garden, and I wanted to finish the planting this weekend. I needed bricks or stones or something to outline the bed in, and we went to go price them out. We ended up leaving with morning glory seeds, more ladybugs, and about 6 bags of dirt to put down. The bricks were too expensive, but we got everything else we went there for.

After that, we went out to breakfast. For those of you who haven't tried the Cinn-A-Stacks at IHOP, you owe it to yourself to try the Double Swirl Cinnamon French Toast. Mmmmmmm....

When we got back to the house, we played in the dirt. Yay!!! As a result, I now have corn, a variety of lettuces, orange bell peppers, cucumbers, snow peas, and grape tomatoes in the ground in the backyard of my house. I'm so excited!!! My neighbor, whom I share the yard with, must think I'm crazy, but he seemed pretty excited to watch the corn growing already (I sprouted it separately.) Maybe he likes corn. I HOPE he likes corn, there's going to be a lot of it!

After we finished playing in the dirt, it was just a little bit hot (hahaha!) so we went back to Smitty's condo and jumped in the pool. Well, I jumped in, and then I proceeded to splash Smitty so much that he finally got in completely (the pool was rather chilly). It was the first time we'd been in the pool this season, and it was worth the wait!

There was also a nap. Ahhh, the nap. Naps are good, and we all agree, so I don't need to elaborate further.

We were hungry, and I decided that I was going to make biscuits. There is a cheese and herb biscuit recipe that I have been dying to try, and they turned out perfectly. They were 2 inches tall, and puffy, and golden brown, and wonderful with chive butter. I hope I can repeat the results. The pasta Smitty made, the salad, the wine, and the biscuits were all wonderful.

After dinner, there was some lounging around and reading time. All of a sudden, around 9, they started shooting off fireworks about 2 blocks from Smitty's condo!!! For no apparent reason! It was awesome to be that close and have that great of a view, and if you know me well enough, you know how obsessed I am with watching fireworks. I love them. I absolutely love them.

See? It was the perfect day, and it has been a great weekend. I hope everyone had as great of a weekend as I did. It almost makes going back to work bearable.

Umm... Enhancement anyone?

Well, it has taken me almost a week to gather up the composure to write this blog.

Last Thursday, my boss came in the door in the morning carrying two small boxes. He asked me to write up a letter explaining that he had tried to cancel several times and he was still receiving shipments and still being billed, etc. etc...

I said okay, and asked what the product was so that I could get on with writing my letter. He said something to the effect of it didn't matter, which, of course, would pique anyone's attention! So what did I do before shipping them out?

I googled the company that had sent them!!

To spare you the trouble, here you go! Now, if you're thinking ANYTHING like I'm thinking, you're assuming the worst, and guessing that those small packages were meant for his, um, small package. Ahem. After all, there are only a couple of options that do billing every month, and, well, his avoidance of my earlier question is cause enough for suspicion.

The point of this ramble? Apparently their products, such as Maxoderm, are not effective for male enhancement. Aren't you glad you know that now? I sure am. I just wish I hadn't found out from my boss's own experience...

Ew.
