Inner Workings, Outer Confusion

Two months later...

Okay, finally, as promised, are photos of the garden from about a week ago. Here is a before photo, for those who do not wish to scroll forever:

Here is a current photo of what has happened:

I thought I had taken a photo of the lettuce row, but I can't find it. We're already harvesting it though, that should give you an idea of how big it has become. Smitty is a huge fan of the spicy spring mix we planted because it's very peppery. The radishes are, too, which you can see between the corn. Here's a photo of the side yard, where you can see corn growing all along the fence. Yay!

On a completely separate note, I have fully recovered from what turned out to be a very bad case of food poisoning. It took a week before I could eat normally again, and I can honestly say I never want to go through that again. Whew.

Ow...

I think I might have a mild case of food poisoning. Smitty wants to chalk it up to the blue light mentioned in his post, but I doubt it. Regardless of the actual cause, I am miserable. Smitty has gone out to get me some Gatorade, and I am eternally thankful. Hopefully, this will have passed by tomorrow, because I really can't afford to miss any more work.

I hate being sick.

Slackage....

I have been a complete slacker when it comes to posting to my blog. I will have to photograph my garden again, since it has grown substantially since the last post.
It has been a rough week, but hopefully I will get the post up tomorrow. The lettuce are huge!

El Jardin

Okay, I figured El Jardin was appropriate, since I reside in a predominantly Hispanic neighborhood. Here is (finally) the grand tour of my soon to be grand garden. For more, click below...

First, I must illustrate what I am up against. Unlike Lucky Bob, who truly is lucky to have backyard such as his, I am up against this:

Now, a photo of the side yard, to the left of the house:

Now that you fully comprehend the desolate landscape that I am attempting to landscape, on to the successes so far! This is a picture of my tomato plants on the front porch. I grew the ones you see from a tomato. I left it sitting on my table too long, and the next time I looked at it, things were trying to get out of the tomato! So I let them out, and this is what resulted:

They're huge! And they have many, many vine tomatoes on them. A few of them are turning red! Look!

There are also grape tomatoes growing on the front porch, and there are also two plants in the garden. They have teeny little maters on them!

(They're SO cute!!!!)

This is a picture of the actual garden bed in the back. I know, I know. It's slightly pathetic-looking, but it's healthy!!! You can see corn in the front of the photo, and two tomato plants in the middle.

There are also cucumbers and snow peas (below):

I decided to plant interesting lettuce along the fence. By interesting, I mean spicy spring mix types of lettuce. There's also a row of corn, but you can't really see the corn yet, so here is a picture of the teeny little lettuces!!!

There's a whole row of it!!

So that's pretty much it for now. Most of the sprouts were too small to photograph well. (They're a little shy.) There will be more pictures in about a month. Hooray!!!
